I also want to thank all of the members here in Kentucky who either helped campaign or who voted in the special elections this month. Not only were we able to maintain a democratic house in Frankfort, we gained new seats as well. All were labor endorsed candidates!
Kentucky's Primary Elections are tomorrow May 19th, 2015. This is our chance as working class people to have a voice that is heard. When you go to the polls, please keep your pay and benefits in mind, not your guns and religion. Make no mistake about it, every single Republican in this primary race publicly states on their official websites and in campaign speeches that they will make it a priority to pass Right to Work and they will repeal Prevailing Wage Laws. EVERY single one of them. Below is a list of candidates endorsed by the Kentucky State Building Trades Council. These candidates care about us and our rights and their legislative records show it. We ask for your vote and to spread the word. It's our Kentucky and we're Union Proud!
2015 Labor Endorsed Kentucky Candidates
Attorney General Jack Conway for Governor
State Rep. Sannie Overly for Lt. Governor
Adam Edelen for State Auditor
Andy Beshear for Attorney General
Alison Lundergan Grimes for Secretary of State
State Rep. Rick Nelson for State Treasurer
Jean-Marie Lawson Spann for Commissioner of Agriculture
Louisville Chapter members,
I am pleased to announce that work is picking up across the board. If you are out of work please call me so I can place you on the list to be called when contractors call for members. This system seems to work very well. I am also happy to report that all contracts were renewed and all members will be receiving a raise in pay and benefits June 1st. Please contact me if you are interested in finding out how much goes where for which trade.
The Teamsters have rented out Kentucky Kingdom on Sunday May 17th. The entire park will be closed to the general public and only union members and family and friends will be invited in. You can buy your tickets for only $10 at the Teamsters hall. Cash only and you must show your union card. The normal park admission is $45.
Lastly, our chapter meetings are still being held the first Thursday of every month at 7pm here at our hall. We have been having great turnouts so far this year and hope to get even larger. It is a great way to stay connected with whats going on locally and with Local 4 as a whole. Also, a great way to stay current on important political and legislative matters that affect your wallet.
