Although the winter weather this year has shown very favorable conditions, the man hours have been a bit low, mainly due to jobs finishing and not much starting. Even with the lack of work in the area most members have stayed busy getting work in surrounding areas and or traveling out of state for refractory and outside commercial work.
As we move toward spring it looks like we can anticipate a slow start to a good year. It may be mid-April to early May, but once things take off there will be a lot of things happening. Several Contractors such as Broady-Campbell, CMS, FA Wilhelm, HCC, and Purdy already have work on the books waiting to get started. Along with those projects, Lilja is scheduled to do a rebuild on a glass furnace at the OI plant in Lapel as well. I will send out more info as things progress.
I would like to announce and Congratulate Joe Alberts as the new apprentice instructor for the Indy, Muncie, and Lafayette Chapters. I expect that he will do a great job and I look forward to working with him. Good Luck to 1st year James Sears, 2nd year Austin Gray, and 3rd year Tom Passmore Jr. as they participate in the State Wide apprentice contest in April. We will be taking in new apprentices in the near future, if you know of anyone that is interested please have them contact me.
